Fuel & Ignition Systems is a team within section Dressed Engine in Engine Engineering department at Volvo Car Group. Our team is responsible to develop fuel and ignition/glow systems and components for Volvo Car's diesel and petrol engines. Systems and components with very interesting technical content. There are different roles within the group with unique experience, ages and backgrounds that believes in cooperation, delivery focus and to have fun together. The development work is done cross functional in close cooperation with other development departments, purchase, production manufacturing and suppliers. Our involvement is from advance engineering/concept phase, through industrialization to start of production and service/aftermarket.
As Design Engineer you will be working in projects from advance engineering/concept phase up until production start and aftermarket. You will coordinate and lead the work within you responsibility area to reach the objectives and secure the deliveries within the given time and budget. You will work in close contact with other areas within Volvo Car's Research & Development, purchase, manufacturing and suppliers are necessary. In this role you will report to the project leaders and group manager.
Main responsibilities
* Lead, plan and drive the work within own responsibility area
* Develop components and technical solutions acc. to technical, quality, time and cost requirements
* Create and release technical documentation. (requirements, drawings /3D-models etc.)
* Plan and follow up status of component development and verifications testing. Internal and at supplier
* Initiate and assure corrective actions when deviations occurs
* Communicate the status and forecast
* Take part in developing and improving our way of working and methods
Required qualification
* M.Sc., Bachelor of Science, Electrical engineering or equivalent based on work experience
* Experience from product development
* Good communication and computer skills
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driving license, B
Personal qualities
* High personal energy and abilities to take own initiatives with a drive being a "doer"
* Good in cooperation and communication, both verbal and written
* Good social skills to cooperate with other members/teams/organisations
* Structured and used to summarize and present status reports
