Active Safety and Chassis is a unit within R&D and we are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Car Group to fulfil its aggressive targets to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics. The Suspension and Steering department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Suspension and Steering. The mission for the Suspension & Steering Electronics group is to provide first class electronics and software to enable the company to maintain leadership within Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics.
We are looking for a Hardware Engineer with task leader ambitions in the area of Chassis electronics to develop future technology. It is important that you are passionate in developing premium electronic hardware components in an international environment together with global suppliers. You are responsible to secure correct specifications towards suppliers and also review their implementation and testing. You will have to build and maintain a network with expertise across the company to secure correct status in the many aspects of a car environment.
Main responsibilities
• Collection and documentation of component requirements in terms of Functional requirements, Architectural requirements, Electrical Performance attributes, Legal requirements etc.
• Develop component specifications in a database environment (Elektra)
• Collaboration with System Engineers for all interfacing systems to assure correct requirements
• Lead minor tasks and/or supporting task leaders in major tasks
• Support concept and project leaders in evaluation of supplier implementation, quality assurance and balancing of conflicting requirements
• Lead and participate in specification reviews to assure good quality
Required qualifications
• At least a B Sc in Electrics & Electronics, Mechatronics or similar
• Experience from development of Hardware components in an industrial environment
• Driver's license B
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Experience from product development in the car industry is meritorious
• Experience from Volvo Car's product development process will be an asset
• Experience from working with system safety, preferably according to ISO 26262 is meritorious
• Experience from requirement handling in a database environment, preferably Electra is meritorious
