Description / Purpose:
DEAN OF STUDENTS, together with other members of the school leadership team, strategically develops the school and ensures that SIS maintains the values enshrined in the SIS Mission and Vision, and practices its policies and procedures.
The Dean of Students has a key role to play in the development and oversight of the school's extracurricular, enrichment, support and socio-emotional/pastoral programmes. He/she is a line manager to the staff working within those programmes. In cooperation with the school management the Dean of Students ensures that student well-being and extra-curricular learning is happening at all school levels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Development and overview of the whole school socio-emotional/pastoral care programme (in close cooperation with the counselors/vice principals/coordinators/advisory teachers).
* Development and organization of the student leadership and global citizenship programmes (Student Council, MUN, 'Nepal project'...), as well as teaching within them and travelling with students.
* Development, organization and recruiting for the current enrichment programme, (including mother tongue programme), and future development of SIS enrichment offer.
* Development and oversight of the SIS' extracurricular programme (e.g. after school care, sports association, music programme...); spirit week programme (UN day parade...)
* Responsibility for the student awards programme (President's Award, Honor Roll, Global Citizen/International Student Award...)
* In close cooperation with MYP coordinator, development and implementation of the Service As Action programme.
* Safeguarding of the SIS Child Protection Policy, training and supporting staff and supporting vice principals when significant behavioural management or other student related issues arrise.
* Line manager to a number of teaching and non-teaching staff who support student learning and socio-emotional well being.
* Active in the wider activities that make up school life.
