ArkDes is Sweden's national center for architecture and design. We are a museum; a library and study centre for the national collection of architectural drawings; and a national meeting place for debate and discussion about architecture, design and urban policy. ArkDes is a museum of design and public life, and covers the full breadth of design, from the digital to the urban, as it relates to citizenship and the public realm.
We are seeking a curator that can develop and deliver exhibitions, events, publications, online content and education programmes and initiate and deliver international projects.
Tasks and role
As curator at ArkDes your mission is to represent ArkDes both nationally and internationally as a leading expert on contemporary architecture, city planning and design. With in-depth knowledge of contemporary architecture and design, you will work with our team of curators and researchers on the planning and execution of programme activities and exhibitions in our galleries and partner institutions. You will also initiate and deliver activities within the framework of ArkDes' role as a meeting place for stakeholders within fields of architecture and design. The successful candidate should aim to develop a working knowledge of our historical collections, but you will most importantly have expertise in contemporary architecture and design in Sweden and abroad.
As a recognised writer and critic you will initiate and take part in ongoing debates concerning architecture and design in Sweden and beyond. You will also take a lead in developing curatorial content for ArkDes' digital and social media platforms, bringing our work to audiences online.
We are looking for an ambitious curator with an international outlook who can help ArkDes become one of Europe's most significant centres for architecture and design. You must enjoy being part of a team, and help to cultivate a creative, positive and visionary environment at ArkDes.
Qualifications
• broad international network within architecture and design
• experience of curating exhibitions on an international level
• expert on international contemporary architecture and design
• internationally recognised critic and/or writer
• experience of working with digital and social media platforms
• higher education within relevant subject

Duration
This is a permanent and full time (100%) position. We apply a six month probation period. Starting date by agreement.
