BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent has the lead responsibility for managing mission cultural affairs programming, including independently planning and implementing large-scale mission events and programs for expert speakers to inform Swedish target audiences on mission priorities. The Cultural Affairs and Speaker Program Assistant organizes public speaking and other non-media public affairs engagement and has the lead responsibility for the Ambassador's travel and for mission "road shows" (mobile embassy events) outside of Stockholm and for other special events as required. Additionally, the incumbent serves as the mission's primary liaison with think-tanks, NGO's, universities, the Fulbright Commission and is the local-staff lead on engaging with Muslim and minority communities.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A four-year university degree in the social sciences, liberal arts, business, education or international relations. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience at an embassy/consulate, university, institute, NGO, company or comparable organization in managing projects, event planning and programming activities. Fluent English (speaking, reading and writing) and Swedish (speaking, reading and writing) required.
