Cost Estimator - Material and Production Processes
At PURCHASING, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Corporation. Ultimately, it's all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo.
As COST ESTIMATOR within the Cost Estimating department you are a specialist and will perform fact based cost analysis on purchased parts. You will calculate cost estimates and deliver negotiation arguments to our buyers and support them in negotiations. Your goal is to ensure that Volvo Car Corporation (VCC) always gets value for money when purchasing parts. By keeping our costs down you are an important player in order to enhance our product offer to our customers.
Cost Estimating is an important strategic function within Purchasing. As Cost Estimator you work independently and in team why a supportive attitude toward colleagues is important to facilitate good team development and a good learning atmosphere. You will be one of 55 experts with great experience and skills within all different types of materials and manufacturing of parts for Volvo cars. The department uses advanced systems for cost calculations for both parts and tools. The job includes international travelling to the suppliers manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective.
We now have new 4 positions open. We are looking for people who can contribute with strong experience from materials and production processes in one or several of the following areas:
• Electronics and Software
• Plastics, Glass and Rubber
• Steel, Aluminium and other Metals
Job profile:
• Estimate cost for production of parts including assembly cost
• Gather and participate in cross functional meetings to get input for calculations and negotiations
• Estimate the Tooling cost for all VCC unique parts
• Deliver negotiation arguments to our buyers
• Support our buyers in important negotiations with suppliers
Your profile:
• Technical university degree or equal relevant working experience
• A minimum of 5 years engineering experience of production, design, production managing or research and development within one or several competence areas such as Electronics, Software, Plastics, Glass, Rubber, Steel, Aluminium and other Metals
• Documented negotiation skills
• Experience of cost calculations
• Outgoing personality and good communication skills
• Strong business orientation
• Good cooperation and teamwork skills
• Analytical ability
• Good English skills spoken and written
