Corporate communication is growing in importance for Scania and plays a key role towards stakeholders both internally and externally to catalyse this change.
What's the opportunity?
As a Corporate Public and Media Relations manager you are part of the Corporate Communications team. It's the team that drives internal and external communications for Scania Group.
You will be part of building up a small Corporate Public and Media Relations function, responsible for and interacting with international media outlets as well as Swedish media and other external audiences. Scania being a large employer in Sweden, Swedish media continues to be very important, at the same time as international business media is essential for Scania's global presence. The role requires that you both speak and write Swedish and English proficiently and an established network of media stakeholders is a benefit.
The role will drive and develop Scania's corporate public and media relations strategies, tactics, messages and activities with the purpose to proactively engage and position Scania in the media space and other external platforms. The Corporate Public and Media Relations manager is part of a team that runs day-to-day external communications activities as well as specific projects, spokesperson support and training.
The team is based at the Head Office in Södertälje outside Stockholm.
What will you be doing?
• Planning and preparing communications activities
• Building and maintaining relationship with journalists and other stakeholders
• Managing incoming requests from journalists
• Supporting Scania spokespersons
• Preparing and facilitating interviews
• Act as a media spokesperson for Scania on diverse topics.
• Advisor to colleagues in the global Scania family and the Traton Group.
• Operational media monitoring
What are we looking for in a successful profile?
• A mix of a strategic, tactical and operational capability
• Mindset open to drive transformation
• Basic understanding in business financials preferred but not required
• On own initiative, work with and analyse Scania's corporate media activation
• Strong networking capabilities to build and maintain excellent relationships with journalists and other external target audiences
• Good ability to collaborate with spokespersons, both experts and executives
• Understanding and knowledge in news media and digital publishing channels
• Pro-active and trusted communication advisor
• Hit the ground running with public or media relations experience of 6-10 years
• University degree or equivalent
• Excellent skills in English and Swedish, spoken and written
