hela Sverige Core Manufacturing Engineering is one of the departments within Volvo Cars Manufacturing Engineering VCME.
We develop and implement quality assured, flexible and effective production systems in the Final Assembly plants.
Our task is to ensure a process-driven product development by driving forward and coordinating Manufacturing Engineering activities in design and product development, with focus on production-effective product solutions.
Within Core Manufacturing Engineering T&F, we are now looking for a Core Manufacturing Engineer SWDL & Electrical architecture for PSS ownership in Annual work & program phase, situated in Sweden, Torslanda.
The overall purpose of the role is to:
The purpose with the Core Manufacturing Engineer role is to secure the cross technical product and manufacturing engineering work in one or several areas up to PSC/PTCC/FC4 (GPDS) towards PSS (Product System Structure) within MSS areas or platform domain within VCC.
Core Manufacturing Engineer SWDL and Electrical architecture role has a relevant and challenging target setting responsible to R&D and production of next generation of Electrical architectures drivelines /vehicle and global sourcing strategy in our assembly plants. Introduce new strategic processes to better support the efficiency work.
It is important both to drive efficiency work of today, and also to understand implications of future global products and processes and global strategies. Main PSS responsibilities are PSS 331 Electrical architecture and PSS 333 Base Technology & system integration, VCATS application and Diagnosis on the Vehicle.
You will handle the future strategic and conceptional work for Manufacturing engineering in Trim & Final for the strategic SWDL and electrical architecture components strategic in concept and industrialisation phase.
Main Tasks:
Annual process and yearly work within one or several areas:
Responsible for technical and production strategic development
System owner over time by developing, defining and preparing each system
Plan and lead benchmarking activities
Secure that Lesson learned improvements is implemented into new solutions
Manage and lead of requirement process according to "six manufacturing attributes"
Pre program and program including platform
Gives product and process feedback so that the "six manufacturing attributes" (quality, man-hours, cost efficiency, environment, flexibility, and change over) are fulfilled
Investigates VCC consequences for common platform issues
Forms the basis for contract to lead time demanding equipments of production
Prepares new and/or changed solutions in the current production system (e.g. work place design and equipment)
Defines soft and hard costs for the systems within their own or several MSS responsibility areas (FT&L, Facilities Tooling & Launch)
Competence Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (120 p, Mechanical or Industrial is preferred) or technical senior high school degree combined with relevant working experience
Practical experience of production process
Familiar with tools used within Manufacturing- and/or Production Engineering, such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and DFA (Design for Assembly)
Fluent in written and spoken English
Good overall computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge about lean production methodologies and principles is a merit
Experience from automotive industry is a merit
