hela Sverige Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is recruiting a Communications Officer with a focus on social media to join its communications team. Visualization and graphic design skills are a real advantage but not a prerequisite for the position.
Context
Established in 1966, SIPRI is one of the world's top think tanks. The Institute is dedicated to independent research into peace, conflict and security. It is known worldwide for the SIPRI Yearbook, its flagship publication, and its databases. SIPRI is based in Stockholm and has well-established partnerships and operational networks around the globe. The staff of SIPRI is international and the working language is English.
As the Communications Officer focused on social media, you will, in cooperation with the Director of Communication, develop and lead SIPRI's social media strategy. You will be responsible for crafting SIPRI's social media messaging and developing its social media profile in alignment with SIPRI's tone and mandate. This work includes devising appealing and engaging campaigns for SIPRI's social media channels and creating or overseeing the high-quality graphics that accompany them. You will join a dedicated communications and editorial team as SIPRI grows and further strengthens its social media visibility and content.
Your responsibilities include
• Manage the day-to-day handling of SIPRI's social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
• Develop creative and engaging content and social media strategies for SIPRI's publication and events, in particular the Institute's major data launches and two signature conferences
• Ensure that appropriate infographics are used in SIPRI's online channels
• Help guide and facilitate the digital layout and presentation of SIPRI's major events in collaboration with the production company
• Monitor social media performance and benchmark them against peers and competitors
• Motivate and advise SIPRI staff in relation to their personal social media engagement
• Draft and design other SIPRI communication materials
• Take part in the collective life of the Institute
Required skills and experience
• A level of fluency in written and spoken English that is indistinguishable from that of a native speaker
• Well organized with experience of working on projects independently and simultaneously
• Ability to think creatively, observe detail and tailor design to reflect the audience; to cooperate professionally with researchers and colleagues; and to maintain deadlines under pressure
• 2-3 years of experience in using social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube) and social media management tools in a professional setting in a communications role or similar
• Expert command of the Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or Lightroom, Premiere Pro and After Effects, particularly as it relates to digital communication materials.
• It is a strong advantage if you have experience with visualization tools, infographics and presentation technology
