Unit/Department Description:

Sourcing at our Client is organized in several functions securing quality, delivery, cost efficiency and sustainability of supply on a global level. One of the key functions within Sourcing is Indirect Sourcing, which focuses on commercial relationships with suppliers and the business in managing all indirect material procurement.

The Indirect Purchasing function is responsible for aggregating purchases and strategies across all the Clients facilities to ensure the greatest value is provided to the organization's internal customers through optimal sourcing of cost and terms for indirect material and services

Position/Job Description:

The Indirect Commodity Manager is part of our Clients Indirect Sourcing Team. The primary responsibility for this position will be managing the CAPEX, MRO and Facility Management. You will be responsible to ensure the quality, delivery, cost efficiency and sustainability of supply throughout the product lifecycle.

Essential Duties:

• Be ultimately in charge of all commercial relationships with suppliers within assigned commodities (CAPEX, MRO, Facility Management), securing targeted levels of cost, quality, delivery precision, sustainability, etc.
• Form a long term strategy of how to deliver the greatest value for indirect sourcing in your assigned commodities and crafting a plan how to achieve it. This includes setting commodity targets, e.g. with regards to cost reduction, supplier reduction, specification standardization, operational purchasing strategy, etc.
• Drive value by implementing strategic sourcing and entering into cost efficient agreements that fulfil supply requirements, by using a systematic methodology and a continuous total cost of ownership focus. Oversee the negotiation, development and maintenance of vendor agreements. Lead critical negotiations
• Manage supplier relationships to drive supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration and integration and deliver improved result. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key vendors within the region with the objective of reducing costs and eliminating efficiencies
• Ensuring alignment to the indirect Sourcing strategy and plan as well as commodity strategies. Ensure commodity teams share leading practices and lessons learned, use consistent methodologies, and pursue deliverables that are aligned with the corporate, purchasing and commodity objectives;
• Build and maintain relationships with internal customers and other functions to ensure continuous improvement, demand management and reduced maverick buying. Work with stakeholders to continuously reduce maverick buying and increase spend under control.

Preferred qualifications:

Education:

• Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in business administration, engineering or other relevant discipline
• Preferred: Master's Degree and recognized qualification in Purchasing

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of significant managerial and leadership experience, including management of international teams
• Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in commodity management positions
• Experience of the CAPEX or other Indirect Commodities is an advantage

Languages:

• Fluency in English is required (written and oral)
• Fluency in additional languages, e.g. German, Chinese, or other language, is an advantage

Skills and Capabilities:

• Strong leadership and managerial skills, including an ability to lead and manage international and multi-cultural teams
• Ability to define a vision and strategy for purchasing and the region
• Deep insights in the purchasing environment in the indirect field in the region; sufficient to analyze business purchasing issues, recommend solutions and strategies and implement changes
• Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work with internal stakeholders and drive the purchasing agenda in the indirect purchasing field
• Excellent knowledge of the strategic sourcing methodology and its application in for example fact based negotiations and cross functional team collaboration
• Capabilities in managing strategic supplier relationships, including relationship building, performance, development and integration
• Knowledge and experience with software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) including presentation and database applications.
• Written and verbal communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, listening, negotiation, etc).
