About the position
GASPOROX seeks a Chief Technology Officer to lead the R&D team in developing future laser based gas analyzers to the packaging industry.
GASPOROX is a spin-off company which provides systems for quality control of food and pharmaceutical packaging, by measuring the gas inside the packages using diode laser spectroscopy non-destructively.
The Role
The Chief Technology Officer is responsible for the company's technical and product strategy and leading all aspects of the company's technology development. The CTO is the company top technology executive, playing an integral role in the company's management, strategic direction, development and future growth. The role includes participation in the ongoing projects of developing new applications, designing sensor and custom/application tailoring, system integration to instruments, testing and verification as well as support to customer projects. The role includes close collaboration with external partners and customers.
The CTO will take an active role in the laboratory and development work and he/she will be hands-on involved in the projects that the CTO is leading.
The work location is in Lund.
This a full-time position.
International travel to suppliers, partners, customers and external collaborators is part of the job with an estimated 20-30 travelling days per year.
The CTO's responsibilities, within the budget and resources available are:
• Processes to define and implement the technical strategy and the product roadmap
• Reaching the technical goals of the company
• Product development and product life cycle management
• Performance of existing products
• Research development and research partnership development
• Maintaining and developing the company's patent portfolio
• Manage strategic relationships with product and services providers.
• Provide in-depth technical expertise
• Strategic sourcing and outsourcing
• Supporting sales personnel on technical matters, also in meetings with customers
• Prototype development and production
The CTO's task,
• Lead R&D team
• Project leader of strategic R&D projects
• Hands-on-involvement in product development, customer projects, EU-projects etc.
• Establish new R&D-projects, such as EU-financed projects
• Securing IP and IP-management
Success in this role requires skills/good knowledge/experience in the following areas, and preferences will be given to those with experience in several in these:
• Strong commercial entrepreneurial attitude
• Relevant technical expertise (optical instrumentation, laser optics, spectroscopy etc.)
• Product development - Experience from commercialization and industrialization processes
• Demonstrate leadership skills to create and develop a high performance, productive, engaged work team and a results-focused work environment
• Experience in leading a team of R&D- personnel and managing a portfolio of R&D projects
• A comprehensive knowledge of the system technology subjects and extensive knowledge of hardware and software, with the ability to keep abreast of new technologies.
• Technical skills:
Optical Instrumentation (system architecture, optics, electronics, mechanics etc)
Experience with laser optics and laser safety
Hands-on experience of optical instrumentation
Hands-on experience of production of measurement systems
• Planning and managing
• Financial management background (Capital/Expense planning, budgeting, etc.).
• Self-motivation and ability to work autonomously.
• Outstanding verbal and written skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
• Considerable management and human relations skills are required to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position. ?
The CTO holds a minimum of a Master's degree and has experience in leadership, managing multiple, cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
