Your role
As Chief Engineer Surface Ships, you shall ensure that our surface ships are safe, reliable and that all requirements are fulfilled. You will have to take difficult design decisions and each day will be unique and challenging. You shall actively ensure that the technical requirements are fulfilled, that the technical design solutions are in line with best practice and that authorized design processes are followed. You will be part of the Project Management Team for each surface ship project and work closely with the Main Project Manager and the Technical Project Manager. You are also chairman of the Chief Engineering Board and a member of the steering group - a cross-functional team of 13 persons with high energy.
The office location for this job is Karlskrona however the job requires frequent travels within Sweden as well as some international ones. You report to Head of Product Engineering Saab BA Kockums. You can expect a manager with high energy, a listening ear as well as being given mandate and responsibility to deliver results.
Main tasks:
* Review and approve product specifications and verification programs
* Actively ensure that the design work follows the stated design process
* Assess technical maturity at design reviews
* Actively ensure that the technical requirements are fulfilled
* Actively ensure that design and systems solutions are in line with best practice
Your profile
We believe that you have a deep knowledge about naval surface ships and how our customers are intended to use them. You have a thorough understanding of requirements and their mutual relationships. You can in a confident way present ideas and technical solutions internally and externally. We are looking for you with ability to take initiatives and drive. To be successful in this role, you need to enjoy working with a vast number of stake holders in a cross functional environment. You need to appreciate collaboration, have high integrity and being able to hold your ground.
Required skills:
* Minimum Master of Science in engineering or equivalent
* Several years of working experience in shipbuilding industry
* Some years of leadership experience
* Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English
Desired skills:
* Experience from operating naval surface ships
* Experience from analyzing requirements
* Experience from several relevant technical areas of expertize
* Working knowledge of business practices and legislations
