Interior Engineering consists of four section teams, each focused on delivering a world class interior for our future cars. We are responsible for all product documents defining the interior of the car. We develop the instrument panel, tunnel console, door panel and interior trim in-house ie with our own engineers. In the areas of seating and restraints we use Design & Development at suppliers which develop the systems with our guidance. We are responsible for all phases of the development, i.e. annual work, advanced engineering, concept development, industrialization, quality and cost reduction. Attributes connected to Interior Engineering are seating comfort and interior illumination. We work in a X-functional work process with Purchasing, Design, Manufacturing, Product Planning and of course the other development units within R&D. The interior of the car is where you create a state of well being, excellent customer satisfaction and a motivation to buy a Volvo again!
The section team Strategy, Concept & Maintenance is a staff function on department level within Interior Engineering. As a CAE Engineer you will be a part of this team and as such take a wide approach, support and challenge the sections within the department. You will mainly work in the concept phase with interior crash simulations enabling a CAE driven development of interior products. As CAE engineer you will be part of a team consisting of product developers, concept leaders and other CAE engineers. You will support the development team by performing relevant robustness analysis on the component / subsystem to balance the product with respect of weight, cost, and performance. As simulation engineer for interior you will also act as a link to complete vehicle simulation team and support the four sections in delivering CAE models.
Main responsibilities
• Create and develop virtual simulation concept models
• Perform simulations and analysis to guide the development team forward.
• Set the technical system solution in the concept phase.
• Participate in development of technical solutions
• Participate in cross-functional development teams
• Participate in method development
Required qualifications
• M.Sc.in Engineering
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Experience of CAE analysis preferably within Safety
• Skills in LS- Dyna, Ansa, Animator software and Meta Post

• Result oriented and flexible
• Ability to act independently but also to cooperate and work within a team
• Structured way of working
• Good communication skills
