At Purchasing, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. Indirect Purchasing (IDP) is responsible for the purchasing of all non-production materials and services to all our staff and plants. This role is within Machinery Europe and our mission is to purchase all machinery equipment to our plants in Europe with excellent quality to the best possible value. Our main stakeholder is Manufacturing Engineering who we work very closely with. Our team consists of eight buyers with various background and experience.
As a Buyer you will lead sourcing of machinery equipment to our car plants in Europe. Large investments are currently being done and are planned for the coming years. The suppliers are global and the stakeholders are situated in both Sweden and Belgium. You will also cooperate with the IDP buyers in China and US to find the best global sourcing synergies. It is therefore important that you have a good holistic understanding and strategic view and can cooperate in an international environment.
Main responsibilities
• Responsible for Request for quotations
• Lead negotiatons on major contracts
• Gate keeper to obtain best commercial outcome for your specific commodities
• Develop global sourcing synergies and best practices for purchasing
• Define and maintain strategies on assigned global commodities, including implementation and follow-up
• Develop relationships with global key suppliers to ensure best pricing, quality and delivery
• Validate new supplier introductions
Required qualifications
• B.Sc in Engineering or Economics or equivalent
• Knowledge of purchasing and negotiations
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Experience from working in an international environment, preferably from the automotive industry, is meritorious
