Frontica Advantage is a market-leading technical and engineering recruitment services provider with expertise in temporary staffing, permanent recruitment, executive search, outplacement and global mobility. Established 14+ years ago, today we have a global network of offices - in Norway, England, Scotland, Malaysia, Brazil and in the USA - from which we serve a multitude of customers within the energy, construction and infrastructure sectors.

Our client, Obrascón Huarte Lain S.A. (OHL), is a reputable global construction company aiming to develop and grow its business activities across Scandinavia. They are seeking an ambitious person with passion and business development vision - a seasoned construction project manager or site manager who wants to get more involved in commercial management activities and is focused on a long-term career rather than just another job. Are you ready?

Working under the direction of the global Bidding and Tender director, you will take overall responsibility for tender and bidding activities for prospective clients in Sweden.

You will safeguard the smooth execution of the bid process for new projects within the specified timeframe and financial parameters, and manage the relationship with the client/s.

You will lead all day-to-day aspects of each individual bid and be involved in every stage of the bid submission process. You'll need to gain an excellent appreciation of what the clients' specific needs are and articulate how the organisation can best cater for them. You'll work closely with a core team while bringing in subject matter experts whenever required.

Furthermore, the scope of the role covers the following:
• Forge close relationships with the business development team to secure the identification of new business opportunities, partners, and/or suppliers
• Evaluate the technical risks associated with bids & projects at every stage, in accordance with construction management procedures and principles, and prioritise what to bid for
• Manage the bid management resources of the Swedish branch in order to provide the necessary technical assistance for engineering and/or construction projects at the various stages (pre-classification, tenders, awarded works/projects etc.)
• Manage the quality, collection, storage, enhancement and transmission of technical knowledge related to the experience acquired by the client in executed projects, and propose the acquisition and development of new technologies
• Propose new operating procedures to improve the execution of the department's tasks
• Responsibility for selecting and hiring designers if/when required as part of the tender team
• Participate in engineering selection for design work at the construction stage
• Financial responsibility for the department and bidding team
• Responsibility for human and material resources in the department and bidding team including but not limited to recruitment, supervision, training, motivation, performance management, career development plans, salary and remuneration etc.

Essential requirements:
• Strong academic background with at least a Bachelor of Engineering or Economics degree, or equivalent
10+ years' experience of working within civil construction companies in Sweden
• 7-8+ years' experience working as a project manager and/or site manager on civil construction projects
• Deep and comprehensive knowledge of the Swedish construction market (culture, partners, competitors, suppliers and business opportunities)
• Good relations with the main actors in the Swedish construction market, ideally including engineering companies and suppliers
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial mind-set
• Excellent communication and management skills
• Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
• Ability to achieve short/long-term goals and to meet tight deadlines
• Pro-active with a can-do attitude
• Willingness to travel (from time to time)

Desirable requirements:
• Railway or road construction experience is an advantage
