For over 30 years, Envirotainer has been the global market leader in secure cold chain solutions for the pharmaceutical supply chain. We develop, manufacture and offer leasing of innovative container solutions for pharma products that require a controlled environment.
Envirotainer is now looking for a Chief Architect to join the Technical Product Management Department. You will become a member of a very innovative and inspiring team of engineers, innovators and product people.
Your mission
Your main assignment will be to take lead and actively contribute with competence and know-how to our product development and systems engineering efforts. As Chief Architect, you are responsible for the overall architecture applied to and used by the Envirotainer product line. You will define the building blocks of strategic technology solutions that fit the business' needs and drive the adoption of these methods within the company.
Your main task is to ensure that the systems architecture that is used throughout Envirotainer is fit for purpose, uniting the performance requirements and taking flight and pharmaceutical regulatory restrictions into considerations. To make that happen, you will need to develop sound methodologies and foster a systems centric view among the different design functions.
To achieve these goals, you will need to work with systems architects for the various technical sub-systems that are used to build our products like enclosure, power and climate. Furthermore, you will work closely with the Product Managers for the respective products to align expectations to what is possible or sound to design.
Responsibilities
To us, technical architecture means the process of understanding customer needs, breaking them down into quantifiable requirements and allocating them to technical solutions.
As a Chief Architect at Envirotainer your responsibilities will include:
• Develop, communicate and deploy architecture governance and system development processes
• Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with standards, policies and architectural plans as well as regulatory functions
• Identify architectural risks and propose alternatives and solutions
• Contribute technical and scientific know-how in pre-studies, predevelopment and development projects
• Deliver technology evaluations and recommendations as well as initiating technology studies together with Innovation Manager
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies
• Support business and engineering strategic planning
• Act as the focal point for technical architecture and standards
Your competence and profile
As Chief Architect you must have strong architecture and design skills, as these are the primary skill that you would rely on. You would need to have a wide technical background as Envirotainer not only has to comply with strict regulations but also combines many technical disciplines into our products. A generalist view is highly beneficial.
Being familiar with agile principles and development methods is an important aspect as we aim to apply more of agile methodology to our way of working and the Chief Architect is pivotal in this effort.
You have proven that you can facilitate other stake holders to drive your agenda forward, both on engineering level as well as in a managerial context. The decisions and recommendations put forward by a Chief Architect often has widespread consequences and you will need to explain the effects of proposals in an effective way.
