Läkare Utan Gränser are looking for a Association Coordinator

Läkare Utan Gränser/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, gender or political affiliation.

Läkare Utan Gränser in Sweden raises funds, recruits field workers, communicates, advocates for change and provides operational services to contribute to saving lives and alleviating suffering in the world.

About the position

The Association Coordinator is employed by the executive on behalf of the Board and serves as a crucial link between the membership, the Swedish office, the Board and the associations of other MSF sections. The position provides, facilitates and supports social and political space for the members of MSF Sweden to associate together and to share their ideas, as well as assisting its representatives, the Board, in carrying out the work entrusted to them by the members. This enables members to actively participate in the relevance, the development, the governance and the safeguarding of the identity of MSF.

Main responsibilities 

• Planning, managing and organizing
• Develop and carry out the Annual Action Plan and follow up and evaluate the results and actions throughout the year.
• Responsible for planning and coordinate the General Assembly and other associative events.
• Collaborate with Nordic Association on joint projects
• Manage relevant suppliers and invoices

• Communication with Association and Executive
• Plan, coordinate and carry out regular communication with the Association. Cultivate a well-informed vibrant associative interaction.
• Is the referent person in the office between the Board, Executive and Association and actively promotes the associative dimension and identity of MSF on all relevant platforms, including internationally.

• Administrative and logistical support
• Perform all administrative duties in connection to meeting and events of the Board and/or the Association.
• Manage the institutional memory of the Board: archiving documents and making sure that Association has access to relevant institutional memory.
• Update the membership database in coordination with the HR department and the Fundraising Department.
• Upon request, to collect, synthesize and present information at board meetings or other associative forums.

• MSF international coordination
• Is the MSF-Sweden referent person for the International Association Coordinators and will also ensure cooperation within the OCB group.

• Has strategic vision and takes initiatives
• Can manage stress and a high work rate

Our requirements for the position

• MSF-field experience or experience from similar work in foreign aid
• Genuine engagement and commitment to populations in danger, humanitarian principles and MSF's associative structure.
• Relevant academic degree.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Proven practical experience and knowledge of associative procedures
• Independent, creative and self-motivated
• Proven people and time management, strategic planning and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize ongoing vs immediate need for action

• Strong computer literacy for production of written material and data base management
• Willingness and ability to travel primarily within Europe when necessary.

• Ability to work erratic hours including weekends, sometimes in short notice

Valuable

• Knowledge of written and spoken Swedish and of French is considered an advantage
• Project coordination experience
• Event management experience

Conditions of employment

• Type of employment: Temporary employment until 14th of August 2017.
• Employment rate: 100 %
• Work hours: 37,5 h / working week
• Salary:SEK 30 631/month
• Benefits: : Pension, health insurance, life insurance, travel insurance, insurance for work related injuries, wellness contribution (2 000 SEK/year).
• Entry date: 6 June
