Associate Senior Lecturer in Odontology, specializing in oral cell biology and epigenetic regulation of chronic inflammation
SPECIFIC SUBJECT DESCRIPTION Oral cell biology is a central subject within the undergraduate teaching in odontology and includes the structure and physiology of the oral tissues and human molecular biology. The course Man in health 2: Head and Neck, 22 higher education credits is an mandatory course at First Cycle level in the Dental Surgery, Master Programme. The course focuses on the functional anatomy of the head and neck and specializing in physiological function together with developmental biology. Within the course cell biology, structure and physiology of the tissues are integrated and divided in three parts: the anatomy of the head and neck, tissue biology and developmental biology. The curriculum in the Dental Surgery programme is given in Swedish.
JOB ASSIGNMENTS We are now recruiting a new member to our department for a position as Associate Senior Lecturer. The candidate should pursue research in oral cell biology specializing in epigenetic regulation of chronic inflammation. Duties also include course administration and teaching in Man and health 2: Head and Neck. Duties may also include supervision of undergraduate students and PhD students.
ELIGIBILITY The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. To be eligible for employment as an associate senior lecturer, applicants must have a PhD degree in Odontological Sciences or have attained equivalent scientific competence. Priority should be given to candidates who have been awarded a PhD degree or achieved equivalent scientific competence at the very latest seven years before the application deadline. ASSESSMENT Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Primarily scientific skills. Great emphasis will be given to profound knowledge in cell biology and specifically in the structure and physiology of the oral tissues including the regulation of protein synthesis at the transcription and epigenetic level. In addition pedagogic skills, administrative skills and the ability to cooperate. For teaching and supervising undergraduate students, the applicant must be fluent in Swedish and be proficent in English. Applicant who lack education in higher education pedagogics is expected to undertake such within one year of taking employment. In case of application for promotion to senior lecturer, the following criteria will apply: Primarily scientific skills, secondarily pedagogic skills.
