IP is a global support function providing IP support to all companies and business units within the Volvo Car Group, including but not limited to IP aspects connected to patents, trademarks, design, copyright, R&D agreements, purchase agreements as well as other commercial agreements. IP is also in charge of developing and maintaining the Volvo Cars IP portfolio, and to handle all conflicts relating to IP within Volvo Cars. Besides providing IP advice in specific matters IP offers training and is engaged in developing polices, instructions, guidelines as well as other tools, which can be used throughout the Volvo Cars organization. IP's objectives are to develop an IP portfolio that support Volvo Cars overall business objectives and to provide support and advice that adds value, protects the interest of Volvo Cars and minimizes legal risks within the IP area.
Key Responsibilities
As an Associate IP Counsel you will provide the IP department and other parts of the Volvo Car organisation with legal support within the IP law area. This involves legal research, legal administrative tasks and legal advice and preparation of documents in IP legal matters, including handling invention disclosures letters, reviewing and supervising patent application drafts prepared by outside agents, and conducting internal inventor trainings. Furthermore, you will support senior IP counsels in more complex matters, which may involve some direct interaction with managers and other business stakeholders. You will also provide basic internal IP training to the organisation and you will be engaged in preparation of various templates and communication material.
Desired Qualifications
* Master of law or any other degree and/ or practice required to practicing law in the EU jurisdiction (with grades in the upper tier).
* Minimum 2-4 years Legal job experience.
* Experience and knowledge of IP (esp. patent) law.
* Fluent in relevant technology terms.
* Fluent in English.

* Possesses and applies sound understanding of basic legal principles and concepts within the IP law area.
* Possesses an expressed interest in industry/business and in understanding business strategies and goals.
* Basic analytical skills and the ability to develop solutions and make relevant legal judgements within set frames.

* Ability to handle most matters independently, but need supervision, guidance or support in more complex matters.
Other competencies (business, people, communication etc.)
* A team player with the ability to guide and advise others in matters of limited complexity.
* Expected to influence and convince colleagues in other areas/departments and/or external groups in less complex matters. Required to liaise/influence/direct others so basic communication and influencing skills are required.
* Basic understanding of the role of an IP counsel and the IP function and how it contributes to achieving the objectives of the business.
* Understands the importance of showing integrity and to seek support from more experienced colleagues when required.
