The arena
The Associate Director in-vitro Screening and Profiling (S&P) is responsible for assuring the delivery of quality in vitro routine DMPK assay data including standard regulatory work package to support the small molecule project portfolios supported by the site S&P group from target selection to all phases of development through registration and Life Cycle Management. This leadership role includes leading an organization responsible for data delivery capitalizing on state of the art technologies/processes, working collaboratively with the other members of DMPK and project teams to ensure the most efficient delivery of the highest quality information and support to the project portfolio.
The role requires a high level of interactive, effective communication to set clear direction for the section and directly advising others at a high level, as well as cultural sensitivity. This role requires managing a certain level of risk by making complex judgements, developing innovative solutions and applying comprehensive cross-functional and industry understanding.
The role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the output of their section including responsibility for setting and maintaining the highest scientific standards, developing the discipline to meet future demands, leading and developing line reports to maximise their potential.
Minimum experience
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline
Good experience in pharmaceutical R& D including regulatory submissions.
Experience in leading scientific teams containing colleagues with advanced degrees (BS, MS, PhD)
Good understanding of discovery and development DMPK
For this role, experience in leading all aspects of in vitro ADME science is required and a specific expertise in vitro /ex vivo models of permeability such as Caco-2 cells / Using chamber intestine studies and strategies associated with minimising reactive metabolite formation would be highly desirable.
Track record of delivering in discovery as well as development setting
Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership capabilities with emphasis of people management and development of others
This role demands in-depth people management experience.
Strong oral and written communication advocacy skills
Preferred experience/requirements
Experience of both small molecule and biotherapeutic drug discovery and development process and a working knowledge of regulatory principles and guidelines.
Experience in operating across international boundaries, as well as cross-functionally.
