AstraZeneca now looks to recruit an Associate Director Bioinformatics to the Bioscience function of the RIA IMED. The role will be placed in Gothenburg, Sweden.
As Associate Director Bioinformatics, you will lead the RIA bioinformatics team in our efforts to identify the drivers of disease phenotypes, biomarkers, target identification, patient segmentation and support of drug development projects. You will grow our bioinformatics capability into a world class team by driving the adoption and development of cutting edge technologies, by expanding in house skills and engaging in collaborations with academia, biotech partners and CROs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Engage with RIA Chief Scientists, Heads of Departments and Team leaders to provide strategic planning and a long-term vision for bioinformatics.
* Lead the Bioinformatics team effectively, providing flexible, competent and responsive bioinformatics support in a timely manner to meet the portfolio needs whilst continuously striving to enhance productivity and cost efficacy.
* Drive innovation and scientific excellence in bioinformatics through internal scientific development, external collaborations, publications and competitive awareness.
* Identify, promote and drive new target and project ideas that enrich our portfolio
Essential Requirements
* M.D. or Ph.D degree in a relevant scientific area
* Experience in the identification and progression of drug targets through drug discovery and/or early clinical development
* Proven track record of leading impactful bioinformatics projects
* Good communication and networking skills
* An understanding of Respiratory Diseases would be desirable
