Chalmers is recruiting an Assistant Professor within the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems Program (WASP). We seek a creative individual who wants to join Chalmers as tenure-track Assistant Professor and accelerate our quest for new knowledge and sustainability.

Information about the position
At Chalmers University of Technology, our inspiring, world class research environments tackle pressing scientific and societal challenges. Through our strong collaborative tradition of combining expertise from different disciplines, we are especially equipped to contribute to complex needs of our society and a sustainable future.

The position is funded by Chalmers and Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems Program (WASP), Sweden's largest individual research program ever. WASP provides a platform for academic research and education, fostering interaction with Sweden's leading technology companies. WASP has the ambition to strengthen and develop Sweden's knowledge and competence in the selected area, important for the modern society. The main focus of the research within WASP is artificial intelligence and autonomous systems acting in collaboration with humans, adapting to and learning from their environment through sensors, information and knowledge, forming intelligent systems-of-systems. For more details about WASP see http://wasp-sweden.org/

Autonomous systems
The term "autonomous systems", somewhat abstract, is used for autonomous artefacts and large-scale self-managing systems consisting of physical infrastructure and software that, together with humans, provide increased functionality, sustainability, and efficiency for society, e.g., self-driving vehicles, smart transportation systems, and cloud infrastructures. The recent technological progress has led to that those autonomous systems can be no longer separated from the environments in which they are embedded. Scientific and technological advances in the areas of data analytics, the Internet of Things, control and decision making, and in perception and sensing technologies are essential to the development of autonomous systems. Collaboration and interaction are other trends in the science of autonomous systems. Chalmers is one of the leading international centers in many areas that are fundamental for autonomous systems and their application, for example computer vision and decision making for ADAS systems, autonomous vehicles and life science engineering. The above-mentioned topics are only examples of relevant research areas within this field. We welcome applications even in topics not explicitly listed here.

Chalmers conducts internationally leading research in several areas that belong to autonomous systems and software engineering and technology. This research is carried out in several departments, in particular Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanics and Maritime Sciences. It is also carried out in Chalmers Areas of Advance, in particular ICT and Transport, and in several Chalmers Centers of excellence, including the Software Center and Chalmers AI Research Center.
