Assembly Equipment Engineer - PLC

Department Sub Assembly Equipment Engineering & Virtual ME is responsible for Equipment Engineering and Virtual Engineering both in project and annual phases. The group contains 17 people and covers 11 different technical areas. We support projects, production, and maintenance, mostly in Olofström but in some cases also other Volvo plants. The mission of our team is to: Prepare/develop methods and techniques of production, manage and execute projects cross-functionally to meet the requirements of lead times, capital costs, staffing, productivity, flexibility, safety/health/environment, quality, availability, maintainability and operational costs through various forms of simulation to produce the most optimal in terms of products and equipment (process-driven design). Perform testing within the joining techniques used in VCBC to meet the VCC requirements for product and process capability to manage and update the standards and technical text specifications (TS), which is basically when we buy assembly equipment in such a way that we can reach our company goals.

As an Assembly Equipment Engineer with special area PLC technology will you be responsible for implementing the new VCC PLC standard in too new equipment for the sub assembly area in Olofström. You are responsible for developing new PLC blocks for equipment in future projects. This means that you working together with Process Engineers, Equipment Engineers, Maintenance Engineer and the SME group PLC hard- & software. You shall participate in the work with Virtual Commissioning.

Main responsibilities

• Develop blocks according to VCC programming standard
• Handle the TIA-portal
• Test, develop and document the PLC/HMI program
• Participate in Volvo Cars cross-functional forum as engineering team and internal technology group regarding control system
• You will be working together with Process-Equipment Engineer, maintenance and external companies
• Pre- technical discussions with line builder/Siemens
• Prepare resource and future technology needs
• Contribute to the development of control technology staff

Required qualifications

• College with a technical focus in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical programming experience
• PLC / HMI knowledge is required (Siemens & Mitsubishi)
• Fluent in Swedish and English
• Ability to use general IT tools
• Meritorious is a background working with automation system regarding sub assembly for car parts
• It also meritorious to have knowledge about; TIA Portal, WINCC/WINCC Flex, CPU 315F, 317F, 319F (failsafe), Simatic S7, Simatic S7 Graph (Sequence Programming), Profinet, Profibus, Mitsubishi GX IEC PLC, Beijer E-design, Pilz safety PLC, ELCAD, EPLAN, Industrial IT/Network

• Personal abilities and skills such as initiative, persistence, interpersonal skills, communicative, structured analysis and problem-solving ability
• You shall be independently driven and curiosity regarding improvement in the processes
• Obviously, you want to work with technology but you are also interested in people
