The Air filter and Fan System Group, Powertrain Installation
The Air filter and Fan System team is a development center, which means that we are responsible for developing solutions in the areas of air filter and fan system for the Volvo Group truck business globally.
The responsibility of the team includes definition of global technology strategies in these areas, as well as the full development from early advanced engineering to maintenance of parts introduced on all Volvo Group trucks around the world.
Air filter design engineer - Development Center
Job Description
As a design engineer working in the development center team you will be a member of a creative team with the mission to be the technical experts on the air filter as a component, while having excellent knowledge of the air intake system as a whole. The field of work is very wide and spans over all truck applications in the Volvo group. Our mission is to deliver air filter solutions which meet the requirements as set by the projects.
In your work you will perform detailed design in CAD and document solutions on the components within the development center team responsibility. Some of the development is done with a high degree of supplier involvement, and in your role it is included to work with the supplier to find the best solutions. Other parts of the development are done internally and your role is to take active part in this work.
The position includes development work in all phases, from advanced engineering and product development to maintenance of existing products (e.g. quality and cost improvement).
We work in a very international environment in cross functional teams. There are good opportunities for personal development within the position.
Qualifications and skills
• MSc in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering field
• Minimum three years engineering experience of mechanical design for automotive solutions, in particular plastic components
• Experience from filtration technology is meritous
• Ability to define verification and validation needs based on requirements
• Experience from working in a global environment, preferably with automotive suppliers
• CAD system knowledge, preferably Pro/E
• Knowledge in quality tools (FMEA, risk analysis etc)
