The Tenure Facility is the first and only international financial mechanism exclusively focused on securing land and forest rights for Indigenous Peoples and local communities worldwide. Recognizing and upholding these rights represents one of the most impactful opportunities for fostering sustainable rural development, achieving global climate goals, and mitigating local conflicts in a cost-effective manner.
Through grants and technical assistance, the Tenure Facility empowers Indigenous Peoples and local communities by strengthening their capacity to implement land and forest tenure reforms. Additionally, it supports governments in testing and scaling innovative approaches to land rights recognition, ensuring practical solutions to administrative and legal challenges.
Position Overview
The Accountant belongs to the Finance Unit at Tenure Facility and reports directly to the Finance Manager. Other roles within the Finance Unit include the CFO and five Project Controllers.
Context and Scope of Work
Tenure Facility manages its bookkeeping internally.
Financial System: The accounting is managed using Business Central (BC)
Approximate Volume: The work involves an annual turnover of approximately 400 MSEK (Million Swedish Krona), about 2,000 vouchers (verifikationer), and around 600 supplier invoices
Outsourced Function: Payroll management is outsourced and is therefore not included in this role's responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The main duties of the Accounting Assistant include:
Continuous bookkeeping in Business Central (BC)
Review, coding, and posting of supplier invoices using Readsoft/Exflow AP
Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (Skatt, Staff advances, others)
Reconciliation of accounts payable, banks and petty cash
Processing bank payments to suppliers and partners and matching with outstanding invoices - both manually and via bank file
Assisting with monthly closings and quarterly final accounts, including accruals and deferrals (periodiseringar)
Review expense claims by staff
Contribute to guidelines, procedures and Manuals of the Finance Unit
Other tasks as required related to the Finance Unit
Key Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Over 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in international or nonprofit organizations.
Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, AP/AR, and monthly/quarterly closings.
Experience with Business Central (BC) and AP workflow tools like ReadSoft/ExFlow.
Strong understanding of Swedish bookkeeping principles and accounting standards.
Proficient in Excel and digital finance systems; familiar with bank payments and internal controls.
Accurate, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong analytical skills, proactive, and able to work independently and in a team.

Terms of employment
The position refers to full-time permanent positions with six months' probation period. Starting date as agreed. Salary by agreement.
