We are looking for a committed, driven and goal-oriented team player who will be owning the overall security 'tin-hat' perspective of the system. You will work in a small team of experts and will be accountable to own the overall architecture of the residential video solution, providing the investigations underpinning strategic choice in regard architecture and key components, and silicon. You will be responsible for establishing a fit for purpose embedded architecture (including hardware, firmware, and communications protocols) This also involves being hands-on; coding, prototyping etc. Further you will provide guidance to the R&D organization in safeguarding the agreed architecture and developing it over time.

The R&D team, within Smart Residential, Yale EMEA, was established in its current form on the 1 Jan 2019. The team is undergoing considerable change and growth, with added scope, skillset and responsibilities required to meet market opportunities driven both by the broader EMEA-, and Global Smart Residential organisations.
Further to this general growth, the team is increasingly involved in setting strategic choices and direction and planning forward to be efficient in what we do and staying competitive in the face of increasing competitive pressure. This is true both for products and services.
The scope of the overall team currently covers smart locking points, alarm systems, surveillance/video solutions, and in-home services. It involves product-, and service development, operations, maintenance and third-line support.
What you will be doing
The successful candidate will be responsible for working through the requirement specification, performing due diligence with regard suitable suppliers, components, performance KPI's etc, and recommending direction. You will be accountable to support, with leadership, local or global cross-functional teams through product development lifetime cycles. The video solutions architect is also responsible for recommending and designing a suitable long-term platform structure, including levels of modularity, technology choices and protocols. In general you will also represent Yale Smart Residential R&D internally to ASSA ABLOY and externally.

What we are looking for
We believe that you probably have a university degree slanted toward one or several relevant engineering disciplines.
You have a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience. We believe that you have experience specifically from working in the video domain and probably working with consumer electronics. Further it is highly desirable that you have experience from working in a global organization, working across time zones and international travel.
Necessary skills for success:
General knowledge of all aspects of system engineering.
Hands on experience and familiarity of the domain of video products, general and future trends, codecs, various levels-, and methods of video (and audio) analysis etc.
Experience from working with low power embedded systems, optimizing boot time or methods of putting systems in stand-by.
Experience from working with IoT security, and comfortable with authentication principles, encryption concepts, cryptographical methods.
Working knowledge of the current, or even next generation capabilities of chipsets, and able to establish capabilities versus cost.
Basic knowledge of concepts such as computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and is able to understand necessary computational power relative different applications and performance levels.
Experience from working with communication protocols (e.g. Zigbee, BLE, Z-Wave, WiFi, and GSM/LTE).
Fluency in English and being culturally aware are also important areas to master.
