Role Summary/Purpose

We are looking for a Verification Engineer to a permanent position within the field of system development. The role is within the System & Verification section of the BioProcess System department, R&D in Uppsala.

Essential Responsibilities

The BioProcess Systems department develops instrument systems for liquid chromatography used for protein purification and bio reactors for cell growth as well as other devices and software to support the customer workflows in the Bioprocess area. Within the department we have many competences such as mechanics, electronics, software and application and we are situated in Uppsala, Umeå. The development is driven in cross-functional, global project teams where we create products for the Healthcare and Life Sciences industry. The System & Verification section 's main activities are focused on system design, verification, validation and usability of these products.

You will as verification engineer participate in product development, maintenance and support. You will be involved in different parts of the development such as specifying the need from the customer, writing test-and verification plans and procedures, perform verification of the instrument modules such as pumps, valves etc, instruments and software.

The tasks include some/all of the following:
• Develop specifications and/or test cases on module and sub-system level
• Perform hands-on functional system and/or physical verification of chromatographic systems and bioreactors (separate modules, cpl instrument and software)
• Perform studies of development and/or market support character
• Independently plan and accomplish given tasks from Project Manager or Section Manager, to reach given project objectives
• Independently solve problems of "trouble shooting character" in project and/or line related work
• Report and present results orally and/ or in writing

The work is conducted in close cooperation with specialists from different parts of R&D such as mechanical and electrical design, SW development and application why it is desirable for applicants to have interest and insight in these areas.

Qualifications/Requirements

• MSc or BSc within Technical Physics/Biotechnology or similar.
• Documented experience of product development work.
• Knowledge and interest for equipment and software for measurements and analytics.
• Interest in lab equipment i.e. climatic chambers as well as working with new investments and keeping the equipment calibrated.
• Knowledge in statistics, Weibull analytics and DoE
• Hands on, practical, driven to in a short time frame deliver accurate test results in a technical report
• English as working language
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Curious, outgoing and good interpersonal skills
• Excellent in personal planning and ability to plan, execute and follow up activities
• Excellent computer skills and ability to work in both general and internal systems

• Swedish as working language

• Theoretical knowledge and practical experience regarding protein purification
• A genuine interest in instrument development
• Experience from the ÄKTA platform and knowledge in relevant regulatory directives
