Saab TransponderTech is currently developing the next generation of market leading software defined radio products to meet the international demand of VDES systems, which enable more environmentally efficient transports and increased safety at sea. We are currently investing strongly in new technology and still, more is to come. We now have a vacancy for a Project Manager with Product Manager responsibility.
Your role
As Product Manager within Saab TransponderTech your main occupation will be leading the innovation planning and maintenance for one or more of our products. You are responsible for the business success of the product. The tasks ranges from customer meetings, down to low level technical discussions with our designers and developers. You propose ideas and lead the requirement dialogue with internal and external stakeholders. You calculate the development efforts, investigate market potential and have the responsibility to keep the product competitive; from functionally, regulatory and cost perspective. The Balance in occupation between maintenance (keeping the product in production and operational) and innovation, searching for the next killer application or the next technical enhancement is approximately 50/50. Innovation, technical understanding as well as market understanding is important abilities in this role.
As Project Manager you lead the development activities related to the product. The development is typically executed with a small team, 2-6 persons depending on the scale of the development tasks. It may include changes to electronics, FPGA firmware, mechanics, application software and documentation. Parallel to this, you are expected to also lead customer financed product development project as well externally financed research projects.

You have a background in product development and systems engineering. You have been engaged in the development of radio products or similar electronic products with embedded software, preferably in the maritime domain. You are innovative and have great ability to lead yourself and others. You have great understanding in customer relations and have the ability to represent Saab and our products in physical meetings. You are comfortable with rapidly changing working tasks. Of course you are a good writer and speaker in English and Swedish. We think you have at least 6 years of working experience within relevant areas for the role. Your awareness within GNSS and radio communication systems is high.
Required skills:
* Master of Science degree or similar knowledge gained by experience
* Multi year experience from working with embedded systems development or systems engineering.
* Excellent communication skills in English and Swedish, written and spoken
* Proven strong ability to lead yourself and others
What you will be a part of
With us at TransponderTech, you will be part of Saab but still have the feeling of the "small" company. In our Linköping office we are about 35 people working mainly in the global civil market and we are market leading in our product segment. The portfolio consists of VDES radio transceivers for land, ships, satellites and aircrafts as well as advanced navigation and presentation systems. The site includes all functions, from marketing and sales, to product development, production planning and logistics.
TransponderTech is located in Hackefors, 10 minutes from Linköping center in modern facilities with guaranteed car and bike parking right outside the office building.
