Volvo Car Group is now taking a strategic step to strengthen the implementation of strategies for technological leadership through the Technical Specialist Program, whose purpose is to develop a strong technical workforce dedicated to innovation, product excellence and continuous improvement of core processes.

As Technical Expert - Crash CAE joint modelling methods you will coordinate and lead the technical planning of joint related Crash CAE method development to ensure the most efficient product development process on both complete vehicle, system and component level, when it comes to reducing lead time together with quality and attribute assurance. As Technical Expert you will be responsible for the long term knowledge and development of your area within R&D. You will keep a close contact with universities and participate in seminars and conferences outside the company. You have the opportunity to act as a mentor for diploma workers and as industrial supervisor for PhD students.

Main responsibilities

• Develop and implement new joint modelling methods for Safety CAE to ensure high confidence output
• Lead the international coverage of the Safety CAE joint modelling method development in the world and ensure VCC area lead
• Ensure an efficient knowledge exchange and collaboration between Safety CAE and testing
• Lead development of recommendations for VCC product development milestone decisions based on Safety CAE
• Assist as technical expert and support senior management teams in quality issues regarding the area of Safety CAE
• Act as senior tutor to expand knowledge in the area of virtual crash analysis within VCC
• Ensure an established contact and collaboration with research centers and academic institutions outside the company

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. or PhD degree
• Minimum 10 years of working experience within the passive safety area
• A record of delivery in multiple programs in advanced engineering and/or concept development
• Expertise in the relevant area and/or its interfacing areas
• Working knowledge of interfacing systems to enable system optimisation
• Demonstrated leadership and personal contribution in defining, developing and roll-out of technologies
• Long experience and maturity as leader or manager
• Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach and document technical knowledge
• Driver's license (B)
• Excellent English skills, spoken and written
