hela Sverige The European Spallation Source ERIC (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The project includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. It is a brand new Big Science organisation and we are building it from the ground up.
About the role
ESS is in search of a Technical Energy Manager, for a newly-established and exciting position. You will have an essential role in identifying opportunities for efficient and effective energy management at our unique facility. With your expertise in energy technology and methodology, we will be able to ensure optimisation of energy consumption and potential production, and you will contribute to sustainable practices within the organisation. The aim is to effectively manage energy consumption and reduce costs, both now and in the future. You will work together with highly-skilled colleagues and establish cross-functional teams.
Among the responsibilities for this position are:
• Establishing and working in cross-functional teams to establish energy consumption benchmarks and performance metrics.
• Monitoring and analysing energy consumption patterns.
• Regularly performing assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings and sustainability improvements, while maintaining technical performance.
• Developing comprehensive energy management strategies that optimise energy procurement and technical efficiency.
• Designing and implementing energy conservation initiatives, such as the integration of renewable energy sources and energy-efficient technologies.
• Preparing and presenting regular reports on energy usage, cost savings, and sustainability initiatives to senior management.
• Effectively managing relationships with energy service providers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
• Evaluating and negotiating energy contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive rates and favourable terms.
• Continuously developing, reviewing and updating our energy management system.
This is a permanent, full-time position, placed in Lund, Sweden, which we would like to fill soonest possible. Six months probationary period.
About you
To be successful in this role you ideally have a Master's degree or equivalent, in Energy Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
You also need a solid and extensive professional background in energy management, energy procurement or a related role, and demonstrate a strong understanding of energy markets, regulations and emerging technologies, in Sweden. This background means you also have a strong, professional network in the business.
We believe you have a thorough understanding of energy contracts, negotiations, procurement processes and legal obligations, related to energy consumption and distribution. Furthermore, you have project management skills with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes. Leading cross-functional initiatives is also something you enjoy. You are used to interpreting complex data, preparing reports, and making presentations to various stakeholders, and you are familiar with energy modelling software and tools.
Fluency in written and spoken Swedish and English is a requirement.
To thrive in this role, we believe that you enjoy communicating and collaborating with people of various backgrounds and areas of expertise. As you have the main responsibility for this area, you take ownership and have the ability to decide and initiate action. You have the confidence to persuade and influence others, with a solution-oriented mindset.
What can we offer?
Aside from the chance to work at a truly unique Big Science project, you can also expect:
• An opportunity to contribute to the future discoveries within science.
• A stunning, brand new workplace filled with innovative minds and brilliant people from around Europe and across the globe.
• A challenging, exciting and fast-paced work environment.
• Competitive compensation that is individual and differentiated according to role, responsibilities, individual skills, abilities and achievements.
• 30 days of annual leave, as well as more than 10 days of public holiday and company days off or days with limited working hours.
• Preventative healthcare benefit.
