System Responsible, SA - Electrical and Electronics

The group Electrical & Electronics, within the unit Vehicle Line Management - Special Products, is one of six development groups within the new joint R&D organisation from former Special Vehicles & Accessories. We have different roles such as Task leaders, Function-, System-, HW-, SW-design and test engineers. We are a team with good team spirit, Our product portfolio contains products like Alcoguard, seat functions, charging devices, trailer functions, illumination and lightning. In short, most of the "non Infotainment" related electrical and electronic functions and products within our departments area of responsibility. Our products significantly contribute to Volvo Cars Business result

As System Responsible, SA, you will primarily be working during the annual process and in early project phases. You will also be leading and coordinate all technology development, Advanced Engineering projects within the group. We see that you will be a natural "go to-person" in the group. Your work will in short be to build the foundation for our development teams in order for them to take on your deliverables and run the project all the way to start of production. One of your tasks will be to compile a balanced initial technical answer regarding time, technology and cost for all new projects. This will require close co-operation with SA's from other technical areas often with focus on securing preparations to enable mounting of our product range. You will also be responsible for gathering and cascading attribute, functional and legal requirements valid for our area. You will be the natural leader in the work of balancing conflicting requirements. As our groups leader of advanced engineering projects you will be involved in research and development of "our products and functions of tomorrow". This means you must be interested in and enjoy the challenges needed to take an interesting idea into a real product in a smart and nimble way.

Main responsibilities

• Develop a conceptual solution according to process description thus anchor it with receiving "industrialisation team"
• Be responsible for issuing technical requirements documents during the concept phase
• Provide data to PSR (Program Status Report) as stated for systems development in respective project
• Safeguard first time through for the CDJ (Concept Data Judgment) gateway
• Actively participate in development of system strategies for other PSS's to make sure mounting of the own technology areas products is taken into consideration as much as possible
• TCP (Technology Cycle Plan)
• System solution plans described in SDP (System Development Plan)
• System solutions described in SDA (System Development Alternatives)
• Lead the groups Advanced Engineering projects and report status to concerned stakeholders
• Own and lead the job with maintaining and updating the groups Design Guideline

Required qualifications

• Relevant technical education (BSc, MSc in Computer Science, Electronics or equivalent)
• At least 6 years' experience of SW and HW development, and/or system development
• Minimum three years' experience from leading a team
• Engagement for and interest in our broad technical area with functions like advanced trailer functions, security, climate, illumination, seat function etc is important
• Knowledge of distributed electrical systems and electrical architecture from automotive
• Good knowledge of the Volvo Cars development process, processes and supporting tools
• Good network within Volvo Cars EEEP Department (94000) is essential
• Knowledge in Team Center Requirements and Elektra
• Fluent English
• Knowledge in ISO 26262 and in ISO 16750 is meritorious
• Knowledge of model based systems engineering is meritorious

• A great communicator with excellent cooperation skills
• Structured and used to summarise and present the status of your work
• A great ability to independently plan and monitor your work against the overall objectives
• Business and performance driven
