The department of Active Safety has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Corporation over the last decade. No small part due to the area of Active Safety where Volvo, through continuous launching innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo.
We are now looking for a System Design Engineer who will become part of Protective Safety Team, a team within the Safety Electronics section. We provide the occupants in the car and pedestrians protection in a crash situation. Electronic sensors and ECU's detects, determines and activates different devices i.e. bags and belts in case of an accident. We develop and maintain the electronic sensor and control system for today and tomorrow.
Main responsibilities
The System Designer's aim is to develop and maintain electrical system solutions according to the vehicle subsystems (the total vehicle system is divided into a number of subsystems).
Tasks
*Describe how an electrical subsystem shall be realized in a system solution which fulfils the technical, time and cost requirements.
*Analyze and agree upon input requirements from mainly Legal requirement, attribute areas, function realization
*Define which ECUs and sensors are included in the system design
*Drive the requirement implementation at the component supplier.
*Define, drive and communicate physical packaging requirements for the chosen ECU and sensors.
*Define how sensors and actuators are connected to ECUs, e.g. via serial bus, proprietary protocol, PWM or analogue interfaces.
*Perform system design reviews
*Ensure that the System Solution can and will be verified by contribution in the test method development for chosen system
*Create Technical Safety Concept for system with safety goals or ASIL classified requirement.
Required qualifications
*M.Sc. degree in engineering within electronics
*Driver 's license valid in Sweden
*Excellent English skills, verbally and written
*Experience of automotive industry
*Experience of electronics and software development
