System Design Engineer

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER within the group Protective Safety you are developing and maintaining system solutions which provide the occupants in the car protection in a crash situation. Electronic sensors and ECUs detect, determine and activate different devices i.e. bags and belts. The development is executed in close cooperation with our suppliers in a creative and international environment. At Volvo Car Corporation the opportunities for personal development are excellent as we have development centres in Sweden and China as well as a number of ongoing research projects.

Safety Electronics is a section within Safety Electronics and Functions consisting of approximately 70 employees organised into the four groups of Preventive Safety, Protective Safety, Supportive Safety and Sensor Fusion. Our work involves everything from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialisation of the systems. The goal is to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo.

Job profile:

• Describing how functional area requirements shall be realised in a system solution
• Ensure system solution verification through review of Design Verification Methods
• Requirement development/management
• Monitor the development work of the supplier in regard to requirement specifications

Your profile:

• Technical university degree
• Experience from development of electronics, preferably within automotive industry
• Experience of requirement development
• Experience of other electrical base technologies, e.g. network design, communication
• Good English skills (spoken and written)
• Knowledge within AUTOSAR is meritorious
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 standard is meritorious
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Analytical and problem solving mindset
• Holistic view with well developed organisational skills
