At Volvo Cars, we have an Agile Organization where we develop our product features and functions continuously in Product Streams with a complete lifecycle responsibility. The three Product Streams within the unit Vehicle Software&Electronics are:

* In-Car Digital - Infotainment, Digital User Experience, Connectivity
* Base Software - Electrical and Electronics Systems
* Autonomous Drive - Active Safety and autonomous drive functions

System Design Engineer - Active Safety & Autonomous Drive

Main Responsibilities of the Department

Active Safety is an area where Volvo, through continuous launching of new, innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo. Within the department, we develop systems such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety.

The Safety Electronics section has the mission to develop the next generation Active Safety Systems. We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialization of the systems. Given the challenges and complexity within the Active Safety area, we now have the possibility to strengthen our team with several System Design Engineers in the ongoing industrialization and advanced engineering programs.

As System Design Engineer, you will be a part of the team that is leading the technical development of the next generation Active Safety/Autonomous Drive systems. We are working with a variety of different areas and tasks such as system safety architecture, subsystem definition, function realization and system design of ECUs and sensors. Your role and initial tasks as will be based upon the competence and experience that you bring into the team.

You are a good communicator with ability to cope with many topics in parallel. You are a technical-minded team player with the ability to work with different cultures. You have a strong analytical capability, is structured and organized in daily work, business and performance driven with a solution focused mindset.

Requirements:

M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar

Excellent English skills, both verbally and in writing

Driver's license (type B)

Meritorious Experiences:

System engineering or software design within the automotive sector or similar

Experience of Volvo Cars Base Technologies (SWDL, Diagnostics, NWM, etc.)

Experience of AUTOSAR and ISO26262

Working with requirements management

Managing suppliers in an international environment

Location for this position is within Gothenburg, Sweden from where we expect you are able to work with adequate working permits. Working proficiency in the English language, speech and writing, is a requirement. Combined with the same skills in the Swedish language is considered a merit.
