The section Engine Controls & Calibration is responsible for function development, calibration and validation of engine control in Volvo Car Groups petrol and diesel engines. The section consists of around 100 persons working in the engine dynos, vehicle dynos, in vehicles and with simulations.
As System Design Control Engineer (SDCE) - Engine Combustion Control within the group Combustion & Air Charge Control Petrol you are responsible for the development of functionality for the Engine Management System (EMS). The group is responsible for Torque Model, Control of actuators for the Air Charge, Knock Control and Combustion Setpoints. Your challenge is to develop technical solutions that will have a great impact on how the customer experiences the car and its drivability. You will work in cross functional teams with other groups and EMS-suppliers. Your technical competence, as well as your ability to manage projects, should be strong so that you can make your own decisions and technical conclusions. Your mindset should be analytic and with an aim of finding solutions.
Main responsibilities
• Responsible for the development of engine control software for Combustion- and Knock Control
• Drive collaboration with external parties such as universities and EMS suppliers
• Initiate and participate in annual studies and advanced engineering tasks (FU)
• Gain knowledge by e.g. competitor analysis, conferences and technical papers
• Actively participate in system team work across MU, DLI, KD and suppliers and lead technical team meetings (GTM)
Required qualifications
• MSc Engineer in mechanical, electronics, applied physics or equivalent. Preferably a Ph.D. in Control Theory and/or Internal Combustion Engines
• Very good practical and theoretical knowledge within internal combustion engines, EMS and the impact on complete vehicle
• Preferably experience from software development, embedded systems in particular
• Meritorious is experience in Concerto, INCA-PC, Matlab, Simulink, Targetlink, Python and SW unit testing
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's license (B) is a requirement
