Monitoring the driver behavior is safety critical both for normal driving as well as for autonomous driving. Smart Eye record a lot of data live, but also use synthetic data to test and validate our algorithms. We are looking for a Software Engineer with special interest and experience from CAD who wants to join our team of highly skilled and passionate engineers.

Smart Eye's Syntethic Data team is expanding and looking for a software engineer interested in simulating and validating data in CAD and creating synthetic data, videos and images, as well as analyzing the data. You will work closely to both customers and development team and easily understand the customers needs. This is a new role and you will be forming the working tasks and processes together with the team.

Work description
You will work with rendering images and videos that simulate the output of driver and cabin monitoring cameras, using Smart Eye's in-house developed vehicle cabin simulator. Your tasks may include importing and modifying CAD files from automotive customers, writing Python scripts to generate batch render jobs, and analyzing or validating the resulting data through our KPI pipeline.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with our development teams and subject-matter experts in optics and driver monitoring systems. You will support our sales team and participate in customer meetings, demonstrating the simulator and gathering feedback to better understand customer needs. By working alongside the cabin simulator development team, you will actively contribute to the development process by reporting bugs and suggesting improvements.
We work in an international environment with colleagues in Boston (US) Cairo (Egypt) and Tokyo (Japan).
Reporting to: Chief Engineer/Data Management
Location: Smart Eye AB, Headquarters (Gothenburg)
Must-have-skills:
- Post secondary education, or University degree, Bachelor or similar, with a technical focus.
- 1+ years of experience with 3D software (Blender preferred; other tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, CATIA, or SolidWorks are also acceptable).
- 1+ years of experience in Python development.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in English and preferably Swedish.
Good-to-have-skills:
- Experience in one or more of the following fields: image processing or graphics programming (Unity or similar).
- Previous experience in the automotive industry.
- Knowledge of validation, software testing, and KPI analysis.
- Understanding of camera systems (e.g., focal length, shutter speed, etc.).
