The HVDC System Design department is responsible for electrical design of HVDC plants. Rating studies, specification of high voltage equipment, definition of concepts for control and protection design as well as system studies are part of our scope of work.
As Software Developer your task will be to improve internal software tools used at the System Design department. You will develop and maintain internal software in coordination with the needs of System Design departments. You are expected to have independent problem-solving and leadership abilities as well as solid oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of object-oriented programming, user-interface development, and Matlab are required. Additionally, experience in Java, C# programming languages and knowledge of power systems are considered highly beneficial.
We are looking for Bachelors or Masters in the field of Computer Science, Electric Power Engineering or Engineering Physics. Experienced professionals or fresh out of university - we are interested in all kinds of people.
Since we work in an international environment you need to master spoken and written English. As a person you need to be a team player and work in an analytical and structured manner. You take responsibility for your work and deliver on time.
You will be part of ABB HVDC within the Power Systems Division in Ludvika. HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 50 years and is used to transmit power through long distances at minimal loss, using overhead lines, lands and sea cable systems.
