The section Digital Modelling, Visualisation and IT is primarily responsible for creating digital design models and visualisations in close cooperation with project managers, designers, studio engineers, R&D and suppliers. The department also strives to ensure that product design has a competitive IT environment. The department consists of four groups: Digital Concept Modelling, Exterior Digital Modelling, Interior Digital Modelling and Visualisation & IT.
The Exterior Digital Modelling group is now recruiting a Senior Surface Designer.The group's main responsible area is in the late phase of the design process, covering the final internal Digital Surface Model delivery. As a Senior Surface Designer, you will be responsible for the team's deliveries and you will report to your manager, you will take lead in technical matters and responsibilities within the group. We also see you as the go-to person when it comes to knowledge within digital modelling and surface design.
Main responsibilities
• Creation of the final "Class-A" surfacing of exterior models, lamps, wheels and accessories
• Balance input from scan data, sketches, technical sections and verbal directives
• Secure surface quality according to given standards
• Be able to lead a project team of Surface Designers
• Administrate internal design reviews of the digital models
• Check surface quality and prepare models in Catia for release in Teamcenter (PDM)
Required qualifications
• At least a technical college degree or similar
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Class-A modelling
• Technical knowledge of exteriors
• Excellent skills in ICEM Surf or ALIAS
• Knowledge in the Volvo product development process VPDS is meritorious
• Fluent in English
