We're now hiring a Senior Scientist in cardiovascular biology for our Bioscience Cardiovascular Division's In Vivo team in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Accountabilities
As a Senior Scientist in In Vivo Cardiovascular Biology at AstraZeneca, you will be pivotal in advancing cardiovascular science and projects. This lab-based role involves exploring novel drug targets and supporting existing projects with critical In Vivo data. You will collaborate extensively with scientists and teams across diverse functions at AstraZeneca, as well as with external partners.
Your work will involve using various rodent disease models to independently design, develop, and run In Vivo studies, from pre-target identification to clinical stage advancements. You will have the chance to establish new methods and trial novel techniques to enhance current portfolios and novel science.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and run rodent treadmill protocols
*
Perform invasive hemodynamic recordings, including ventricular pressure-volume loops, and In Vivo blood pressure and heart rate monitoring.
*
Conduct rodent cardiovascular surgical procedures, such as aortic constriction surgery, myocardial infarction induction via permanent LAD ligation, and implantations of osmotic mini pumps and intravascular catheters.
*
Perform cardiac echocardiography using the VisualSonics Vevo system and analyze and interpret echocardiographic parameters.
*
Analyze and interpret generated data independently, and communicate findings to project teams, departments, and at external meetings.
*
Collaborate across Bioscience and other AstraZeneca functions to fulfill key project activities and contribute to scientific communications via journal publications and meetings.
*
Foster a dynamic, innovative environment where new ideas and improvements are welcomed and shared.
You may take on responsibilities as a biology lead in drug projects, identifying and championing novel drug targets to become new projects.
Essential Skills/Experience
*
PhD or MSc degree in biology, pharmacology, cardiovascular disease or similar
*
Strong experience with independent design, development and execution of In Vivo studies for projects from pre-target identification to clinical stage within the cardiovascular area
*
Hands on experience with rodent surgical procedures within the cardiovascular area
*
Hands on experience with rodent treadmill protocols
*
Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and in writing
*
