The arena
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Senior scientist to join the Screening Sciences and Sample Management Department within the Discovery Sciences iMED in Mölndal. Leading from the bench, you will apply proven cell biology expertise and a passion for driving scientific questions, combined with strong team working ethics, to drug discovery projects. You will join one of the SAR screening teams whose remit is to support iMED projects globally with delivery of screening and mechanism of action data for project compounds.
Placement for this role is in Mölndal, Sweden
The role
This is a lab-based role, providing in vitro target-based and phenotypic screening to support projects in all phases of the discovery process. The role involves proposing experimental strategies, troubleshooting and making a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects as well as novel science to advance our capability and for external presentation.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D or a first degree and at least 4 years experience within a relevant scientific discipline
Skills and Responsibilities
Excellent communication skills and an ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary research environment
Independent analysis and evaluation of complex data and delivery of data to agreed timelines
Provide technical leadership and guidance to others
Maintain an awareness of relevant scientific developments
Scientific visibility and leadership through project contributions, internal presentations and external publications.
Preferred experience
Expertise in cell-based screening of a variety of mammalian cell types (including primary, iPS and immortalized cell lines)
Theoretical understanding of assay design relevant to the pharmacology of the drug target
Practical knowledge of detection technologies and technology platforms, including ideally flow cytometry and imaging
Data analysis and conversion of screening data to biological parameters
Experience in design and execution of complex pharmacology studies to understand compound mechanism of action
Functional and Business knowledge:
You will have a recognized scientific expertise within the area of cell biology as applied to screening and will function as a scientific expert within project teams. A good understanding of drug discovery and how to translate their scientific expertise into new project and business opportunities.
