It is essential to have good social and communication skills and to be a strong team player. Candidates should be able to work independently, take own initiatives and have a positive, goal oriented and problem solving attitude. Good organisational skills are required and you should be comfortable in presenting your results. Excellent English is required, both spoken and in writing.

Tasks

* To develop imaging-based cellular assays for target identification, target validation and phenotypic assay development.
* To use qualitative and quantitative image-based cellular assays and analysis methods for drug screening, cell profiling/QC and protein expression/functionality in a biologically and statistically relevant manner.

The following skills are highly desirable

* Ability to develop imaging assays for predefined endpoints and/or investigate assay space to determine optimum endpoint for projects.
* In depth knowledge of one or more imaging platforms (CellInsight, Image Express, CV7000) which can be used to generate multiparameter cellular data.

* Practical understanding of assay development and optimisation, including statistical tools such as factorial experimental design, to enable generation of robust, reproducible and sensitive assays.

Accountabilities

* To use judgment and knowledge where appropriate to influence the work of the project, team, section and department.
* To work independently to contribute to the design and analysis of experimental procedures by incorporating the views of others.
* To interpret experimental data and play a significant role in the planning of further experiments.
