RISE Bioeconomy is searching for a Senior Research Associate with expertise in measurement technology and/or control systems in Papermaking processes. Your main responsibilities will be to initiate new and support in existing groundbreaking research projects relating to novel measurement technologies, automation/digitalisation, and advanced data analysis in the production of packaging, tissue, print and specialty grades. This will include formulating hypotheses, designing and structuring R&D projects, and setting goals based on client needs in projects related to advanced process monitoring. Within this position, you will work cross collaboratively with other researchers in the areas of cellulose fiber technology, stock design, paper chemistry, process technology, new materials and material characterization. You will also work closely with our state of the art lab and pilot environment as well as industrial paper machines and will be expected to communicate closely with existing and potential clients on a regular basis. This position is initially temporary (1 year contract), with the possibility of becoming permanent after the 1-year term.
Qualifications
PhD in Paper Technology, Measurement Technology, Control Systems, Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering or related fields.
At least 5 years experience working in one of (1) the production of paper/board/tissue products, (2) industrial process monitoring and/or automation, (3) Control systems, (4) advanced data analytics.
An in depth understanding of pulp and paper production, and/or industrial process monitoring and/or advanced data analytics.
Able to work well in teams where you may be required to assume a leadership roll as well as work independently.
Able to work in a high paced, competitive environment.
Excellent written and spoken English (strictly required) as well as Swedish.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both internally and externally.

The position is based initially on a 1-year contract with the possibility for permanent employment at the end of the term. The start-date is to be agreed upon between the successful applicant and RISE and beginning no later than January 1, 2019.
