Northvolt is now looking for an Advanced Material Engineer to be part of our team. Reporting to the Director of Cell Technology you will be responsible for material development for next generation of Li ion.
With a thorough understanding of optimization and manufacturing engineering of battery material process you will be also deeply involved in the process of optimization, the iterative work leading to the highest yield rate for the production and the optimization of material characteristics. You will serve as technical expert for buyers, strategic suppliers and technical team members.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing advanced LiBs for electric vehicles and other applications
Expertise for liquid & all solid state LiBs
Microstructural designing for LiBs
Characterization and testing for LiBs

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
PhD in Chemical Engineering
Experience (5+ years) from development of advanced batteries, in particular lithium-ion based technologies
Demonstrated expertise and success in development of battery materials for lithium ion battery
Strong background from technical culture and proven engineering excellence
Must have worked in multi-cultural environment and have a successful history with Japanese working culture
Great communication skills as you will be in constant interaction with customers and team members from both the technical and business development side
Experience working with international colleagues and customers
Specific Skills/Abilities
Excellent English written and oral skills, Japanese is highly evaluated, and Korean a big plus
Ability to work under high pressure with tight deadlines
Strong organization skills and used to manage a range of activities simultaneously
Experience from start-up environment is a plus
Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
