Senior lecturer in Biomedical Laboratory Science specializing in Clinical Physiology
Specific subject description: A biomedical scientist has a central and responsible role in the laboratories and clinics in the healthcare services. They are also in demand in the pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology companies. The profession demands both interest in technology and an ability to meet people. The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Science requires three years of full-time study. The programme provides a broad base for research and development in the biomedical field. An additional year of second-cycle education is required before graduate biomedical scientists meet the entry requirements for doctoral studies. Job assignments: To be instructor for courses within the Biomedical Laboratory Science Programme in Clinical Physiology at the Institute of Medicine, as well as being the director of studies at the Biomedical Laboratory Science Programme. Twenty per cent (20 %) clinical work may be included in the position.
Eligibility: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. For the position as senior lecturer the applicant must have a PhD degree and demonstrated pedagogical skills. The applicant must hold a qualification as a registered biomedical laboratory scientist in clinical physiology. Assessment: Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The first assessment criterion will be pedagogical and administrative skills. In addition, extensive experience as course leader and director of studies at the Biomedical Laboratory Science Programme and ability to cooperate is an advantage. Experience in internationalization and to develop and be responsible for courses at the advanced level in ultrasound methodology is considered a merit. Proven long experience of both cardiovascular research and clinical activity in clinical physiology will also be considered. The candidate is expected to teach in both Swedish and English. The successful applicant may also be asked to complete an educational programme within the first year of employment.
