AIMES - Center for the Advancement of Integrated Medical and Engineering Sciences is an interdisciplinary research center co-affiliated between Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

Research at AIMES is characterized by intimate interactions between pre-clinical and clinical scientists and researchers with natural sciences and engineering backgrounds. Biomedical research in infection and neuroscience is addressed by the development of cutting-edge approaches based on Organic Bioelectronics, Organ-on-Chip technology, and Tissue Microbiology, which combines expertise in electroactive polymers, chemistry, microfluidics, neurobiology, microbiology, physiology, pathology and intravital imaging. Other areas of research include renewable biomaterials, sensor technologies and anti-fouling surfaces. AIMES has an explicit aim to translate scientific findings to societal use via strong interactions with external stakeholders.

AIMES is located in Biomedicum, KI Campus Solna. AIMES is hosted at KI by the Department of Neuroscience, world-leaders in research on the function of the nervous system in health and disease. AIMES host at KTH is the Department of Fibre and Polymer Technology, the largest academic institution on native and synthetic polymers in Sweden.

Your mission
We are seeking a Senior Lab Manager for a permanent position at AIMES.

The Lab Manager is a central organizational figure in our interdisciplinary research center. At AIMES we have a number of research groups with medical and/or engineering backgrounds that works together effectively and efficiently. The Lab Manager is essential in the process of designing and running a transparent environment and to coordinate the everyday running of the lab.
The Lab Manager is responsible for ensuring a smooth operation of the lab including taking charge of practicalities such as ordering, chemical inventory, risk assessments, biosafety, waste management and work environment. The Lab Manager is responsible for introducing new and visiting researchers in the lab environment including training in BSL2 techniques, instrument function, lab routines and SOPs critical to the running of the lab. The Lab Manager will help support and guide the students and researchers in the lab to ensure best practise and efficacy. AIMES environment manages several equipments and microscopes hence knowledge in microscopy is a requirement for this position. The Lab manager is proactive in establishing routines and processes and contribute to a high level of quality on the day-today work in the lab.

Your profile
Skills and personal qualities
We are seeking a highly motivated, authoritive person with a broad skill set. To enable the person to fit in with our research environment we seek a candidate with the following skills/qualifications:

- Proficiency in Swedish and English is required.
- Microbiology, preferably bacteriology, experience
- Knowledge of ordering and approving invoices in Agresso
- Project management experience
- Knowledge in work environment regulations for laboratory work
- Experience with writing and validating Risk Assesments
- Experience in mentoring students is essential
- Excellent problem solving abilities
- Master degree or higher in relevant field
- Experience in work at BSL2 lab
- Experience in mammalian cell culture of merit
- Experience in molecular biology techniques of merit
