EPS is a new department within the powertrain unit at R&D responsible for research and development of Electrical Propulsion Systems. Within Volvo Cars we closely cooperate with product planning, other engineering units, purchasing, manufacturing and after-market. We also have deep cooperation with suppliers from all over the world as well as with academia and research organizations.
At the engineering department of EPS, we are responsible to design and deliver Electrical Drive Systems (El machines and Inverters), Battery Systems as well as Power Supply and Charging Systems for electrified vehicles.
As Hardware in the loop (HIL) engineer at Electrical Propulsion System you together with our Hil team are responsible for developing HIL environment for all high voltage components included in the electrical drivetrain. As part of our expanding team you will be working in a creative environment shaping tomorrow's virtual methods within powertrain electrification. You will work in cross functional teams with other groups within the Laboratory and with our internal customers at R&D. Your mindset should be analytic and with an aim of finding solutions.
Main responsibilities
• Model development and validation of models
• Process and method development regarding HIL systems
• Implementing and adapting test object models in HIL systems
• Developing signal interface between HIL system and EPS systems
• Develop and maintain a personal network with simulation community within VCC R&D
• Plan and manage HIL activities through a cross functional team
• Document HIL processes and models within EPS
• Participate in development of testing methods
• Conduct problem solving investigation when required
• Communicating with EPS developing team and suppliers
• Support the project leaders with writing requirements for models and environments
• Find technical solutions for new functionality
• Support the Automation Test developers
• Support the users of HIL
• Develop model for VEOS environment (Hil emulator)
Required qualifications
• Ms Sc in Electrical Engineering, SW Engineering or equivalent with emphasis in vehicle and driveline CAE/HIL experience
• Proficient in dynamic modeling using Matlab/Simulink or similar simulation tools
• Knowledge in dSPACE systems
• Knowledge in CAN communication and control units in vehicle electrical system
• Experience in the technical area of simulation
• Experience from setting up test sequences and analysis of test results is meritorious
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Python meritorious
