Chassis Systems and Control is part of the Electrics, Electronics and Chassis unit within Research and Development at Volvo Cars. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Cars to fulfil it's aggressive targets to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics. The Suspension and Steering department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Suspension and Steering.
The mission for the Tuning and Active Suspension group is to provide first class wheel suspensions that enable premium level handling, ride comfort and road noise isolation. We co-operate with a wide range of internal partners, such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, durability, manufacturing engineering and others. Our supplier base is worldwide, from local Swedish to Chinese. The team consist of approximately 20 people of various background and age.
We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer with task leader ambitions in the area of Chassis electronics to develop future technology. It is important that you are passionate in developing premium electronic hardware components in an international environment together with global suppliers. You are responsible to secure correct specifications towards suppliers and also review their implementation and testing. You will have to build and maintain a network with expertise across the company to secure correct status in the many aspects of a car environment.
Main responsibilities
* Manage delivery within agreed time/cost/technic frames throughout all development phases of a car project
* Contribute in setting strategies to ensure Volvo's position as a leader in the fields of Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety
* Secure mutual agreement with other systems and functions needed to provide total function
* Handle supplier contacts and be active in sourcing activities from an engineering perspective
Required qualifications
* MSc or BSc in Electrics & Electronics, Mechatronics or similar
* Experience from development of Hardware components in an industrial environment
* Driver's license B or equivalent
* Team player capabilities, ability to act with confidence and respect in a relation with global suppliers
* Experience from developing HW and SW for embedded systems
* Experience from Product Development in the Automotive industry
* Knowledge about Volvo Cars product development system is meritorious
Personal qualities
* Passionate about technical challenges and finding solutions
* Comfortable with defining own work plan and coordinating it with others
* Customer focused and communicative
* Capable of develop and maintain a network position
