About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer (Senior or Expert level) to join a global retail organization's large-scale data transformation program. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and modern data architecture concepts, including Data Mesh, to help build scalable and efficient data products. You will be part of a high-impact team within the AI, Analytics & Data domain, contributing directly to data initiatives that support global operations across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Take end-to-end ownership of designing, building, optimizing, and supporting new and existing data products based on a defined target vision.
Apply DevOps principles, managing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Work hands-on with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools and services such as BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub.
Ensure data products are independently deployable and meet requirements for security, scalability, observability, and performance.
Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to align on vision, scope, and delivery of data products.
Engage with cross-functional product teams to support the implementation of Data Mesh architecture.
Drive continuous improvements, reduce technical debt, and advocate best practices in data engineering.
Stay updated on evolving trends in data engineering, analytics, and cloud technologies.
Requirements:
Proven passion for data, technology, and collaboration.
4+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering within cloud-based or advanced analytics environments.
Deep knowledge of GCP and its ecosystem (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, etc.).
Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
Proficiency in SQL and handling structured and semi-structured data formats like Parquet and Avro.
Solid understanding of data modeling techniques and their trade-offs.
Experience working with both NoSQL and relational (RDBMS) databases.
Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration tools (e.g., Terraform).
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to performance and scalability.
