Senior Concept Engineer
Electrical Distribution System (EDS) are responsible for developing the electrical distribution system, the wiring harness and the wiring harness components, in all vehicle lines within Volvo Cars.
EDS Concept and Quality are responsible for the design work done in pre series builds and concept phases. They handle testing of EDS deliveries and are responsible for handling all EDS related quality issues. The team is also responsible for the CAE tools used by EDS' suppliers and for CAE support.
EDS are responsible for several different components and wiring harnesses. In order to do a robust and as cost efficient design as possible the concept engineer starts his work as soon as a new project is initiated. The concept engineer supports the system responsible in developing new strategies and are responsible for all design related issues. The concept engineer participates in packaging meetings and works closely with the EDS suppliers.
The main focus and responsibility for the concept engineer is the harness design but it also includes to be involved in some component design for smaller projects. You are responsible for the concept design of all harnesses and together with the system responsible, you makes the decision if the concept design is to be done in house, by the concept engineer, or if the design is to be performed by the EDS suppliers, with the supervision of the concept engineer. The required models of cable harnesses and components are created in CATIA.
Areas of responsibilities:
* Initiate and investigate new design strategies for wiring harnesses and the wiring harness components
* Lead and supervise the concept design work of wiring harnesses and in some cases the wiring components
* Support the system responsible in all design related issues and in the decision if a concept design is to be done in house or by EDS suppliers
* Participate in packaging and concept meetings
* Create concept design models in CATIA
As a Senior Concept Engineer at EDS you will work with several different components and materials that will broaden your expertise. You will work closely with several different suppliers in many countries which gives you useful connections for the future.
Required qualifications:
* University degree in Engineering or equivalent working experience
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Component or harness design experience
* CAD tool experience
Meritorious qualifications:
* EDS work experience
* KDP experience
* Teamcenter experience
* Knowledge about Volvo Cars product development process
Personal qualities
* Good communication skills
* The ability to cooperate and work within a team
* Structured with high analytical skills
