Main duties and responsibilities
Working closely with clinical pharmacology scientists, physicians and other scientists, you'll apply modelling to support the design and interpretation of clinical studies and influence key decisions in early and late clinical development.
The work includes integration of relevant data, such as dose information, pharmacokinetics, biomarkers and clinical endpoints within and across studies, compounds and development stages. Support to informative trial designs using simulations and efficient modeling statistics is an important focus area for us. Another area of grow is quantitative systems pharmacology and mechanistic modelling approaches for more informative translation of disease and drug knowledge. In collaboration with clinical pharmacology scientists, you'll represent Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology and be responsible for identifying and executing modelling to support model informed drug development. You will communicate your findings to other scientists within and outside of AstraZeneca and publish them in peer reviewed journals.
Essential requirements
You must have:
* PhD degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience in quantitative science
* Strong quantitative modelling skills, e.g. expert knowledge in mathematics, statistics, mechanistic systems pharmacology modelling, quantitative translational scaling, model-based meta-analyses
* Background and an understanding of clinical pharmacology aspects of drug development
* Experience in pharmaceutical R&D
* Working knowledge of pharmacokinetics and its clinical application
* Biological understanding of disease and drug action
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
You'll need real passion for your subject, along with a high level of integrity, plus the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting that comprises a number of specialists in their fields, including physicians, scientists and statisticians.
Desirable requirements
You will ideally have:
* Recognised scientific expertise demonstrated by scientific publishing in the field of clinical pharmacology
* Early or late phase clinical development experience/awareness.
